Welcome to my blog. I document my interests in films, tv shows, and more.
MyPhone
"MyPhone" (2013) | Mixed Media | 9.75 x 5 x 2.5 inches
Throwback to one of my favorite pieces I'd done as part of the Sculpture I course. Each student was given a box at the beginning of the semester and was told to "do something" with it every day.
I retrofitted the box to resemble my iPhone 5. The lock combination is the exact same as my iPhone passcode. Inside are actual text messages from daily conversations I had with someone really important in my life at the time. We've all re-read old text messages before, and they always remind you of a different time, for better or worse. Nostalgia is a powerful feeling that can be joyful but also heartbreaking.

#IGGYSAYS
Finished my graphic design project. Each person had to come up with some kind of product that features an inspirational quote from St. Ignatius (Iggy). And next week we will be handing out all of the products to the Loyola Community, and we will judge how successful each project is based on how many posts people make about it with the hashtag #IGGYSAYS. I made paper fortune cookies with uplifting fortunes, and when you open up the entire fortune cookie it has a quote from Iggy "Love is shown more in deeds than in words."

I had classes that took me out of my comfort zone. I wasn't too good at printmaking nor was I at ceramics, but I'm proud I tried. These are my favorite pots/cups/bowls I made in ceramics! They're ugly but they function lol.
Print from intaglio class on copper plate
One of my prints for intaglio printmaking class.
White Picket Fence
My plywood project. The white fence represents the American Dream, the perfect life. The puzzle pieces are the right shape but wrong size, so they don't fit together. It represents how we all have expectations of how our life will be but life doesn't work that way. It'll never be how you expect. Underneath is part of Ernest Hemingway's poem "Invictus," the line "I am the master of my fate." It represents how even though life will go against your expectations, you still have the power to influence it depending on your attitude and actions.
Sculpture Final #1: Currency Project. It's scary as hell working with metal tools and fire, but it was also a fun experience. Assignment was to make a currency piece out of metal (not like coins, but like tools and things used for trading). I wanted mine to resemble the rising sun, and thankfully it can stand on it's own. Might make it into a lamp or light stand over the summer.
Think project assignment for sculpture class. We had to make a cube with non traditional sculpture material. I took a picture of a Rubik's Cube, edited it on photoshop to make the 3d effect, and made 3d lenses with clear packaging material and a blue and red Sharpie. The effect didn't turn out as well as I had hoped but it's good enough for a homework piece lol

We have to do 8 paintings a week for homework. I thought I'd play around with some digital paintings, and also practice with my tablet more.
